In line with global stock markets, benchmark stock indexes opened higher on Friday, led by IT, banking and financial stocks gains.
The BSE Sensex was up 1,032 points or 1.80% at 58,267 at 9:17a m. The Nifty50 was trading at 17,311, up 297 points or 1.75%.
Among Sensex stocks, Infosys, SBI, ICICI Bank, Bajaj Finance and Axis Bank were the top gainers, gaining around 2-4%. L&T, HUL, HDFC Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank and Tata Steel also opened higher.
On Thursday, the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 2.83%, the S&P 500 gained 2.6%, and the Nasdaq Composite gained 2.23%. In Asian markets, Japan’s Nikkei rose 3.5%, South Korea’s Kospi rose 2.56%, and China’s Shanghai Composite rose 1.57%.
The Indian rupee was up three paise at 82.21 against the dollar in early trade on Friday. Meanwhile, the US dollar index, which tracks the greenback against a basket of six major world currencies, was down 0.01% at 112.34.
