On Thursday, BHEL struck a deal with Coal India Limited and NLC India Limited to build a coal gasification-based plant in the country. The agreement in this regard was signed in the presence of Heavy Industries Minister Mahendra Nath Pandey, Coal and Mines Minister Pralhad Joshi and Niti Aayog member V K Saraswat, according to a BHEL press release.
Under the agreement, BHEL and CIL (Coal India Limited) will jointly build a coal gasification-based plant. It said, among other things, NLCIL will build a lignite-based gasification pilot plant. The agreement is seen as a big step towards achieving the national goal of 100 million tonnes of coal gasification.
