On Monday, Maruti Suzuki India reported an over two-fold increase in vehicle production. The vehicle production for September month remained at 1,77,468 units. In September 2021, the company produced a total of 81,278 units.
Maruti Suzuki India said that the shortage of electronic components had a minor impact on the production of vehicles during September. It further said that the company took all possible measures to minimise the impact.
The company, however, added that production volume in September 2021 was adversely impacted due to a shortage of electronic components. This is the reason a year-on-year comparison is not meaningful.
Total passenger vehicle production stood at 1,73,929 units in the month under review. Passenger car production was up at 1,31,258 units against 47,884 units in the same month last year.
Utility vehicle production was at 29,811 units during the period under consideration, against 21,873 units in September 2021. Also, production of light commercial vehicles Super Carry was at 3,539 units as compared to 3,496 units in the same month last year.
