According to Union minister Jitendra Singh on Friday, the National Education Policy (NEP), 2020, will restructure India’s educational strategy in line with international benchmarks.
Speaking at the PHDCCI Education Summit in 2022, Singh claimed that the NEP was the most revolutionary change in India since independence since it was not only forward-thinking and progressive but also in line with the country’s new needs and demands for the twenty-first century.
Instead of concentrating solely on degrees, the minister claimed that NEP 2020 provides the proper priority for students’ innate talent, knowledge, skill, and aptitude. He continued by saying that it also offers young scholars and students considerable leeway to select their options based on their aptitude and occasionally changing personal circumstances.
Regarding the benefits of NEP-2020, Singh argued that the availability of multiple entry/exit options should be cherished because this academic flexibility will benefit students by enabling them to take advantage of various career opportunities at various points in time, depending on their innate learning and aptitude.

The minister stated that in the future, consideration of the viability or appropriateness of this entry/exit option for teachers, providing them with career flexibility and opportunity for advancement as is done in several western nations, including the US, may be made.

According to the minister, the policy supports a creative and diverse curriculum that incorporates science and mathematics, humanities, languages, culture, sports and fitness, health and well-being, arts, and crafts.
More Indians than students in the United States and the European Union combined are pursuing higher education, and an ambitious new education programme aims to treble that number. Though a lofty objective, he claimed it was doable.

The potential for universities and colleges to include entrepreneurship in their curricula is one of the NEP’s most admirable outcomes. According to Singh, if done effectively, it might, in a relatively short amount of time, boost the country’s economy.
