Shares of IndiGo were in the red in early trade after a Delhi-to-Kolkata flight faced false cargo smoke warnings before landing on Sunday. Aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) investigates the incident.
The airline was trading at Rs 1,958 at 9.30 am, down 0.5% from its previous close on the BSE.
Indigo Airlines said on Sunday that it had inspected the Airbus plane upon arrival at Kolkata airport. “The warning was confirmed as false,” and necessary rectification of the detection system is underway.
According to a PTI report, a senior official said the DGCA would investigate the incident.
Indigo Air stated that the false cargo smoke warning occurred on flight 6E-2513 (VT-IJA) and landed at Kolkata Airport with priority.
In the past few months, cases have emerged involving multiple airlines facing technical issues.
According to DGCA, Air Indigo carried 57.11 lakh passengers in July, accounting for 58.8% of the domestic market share. IndiGo is the country’s largest airline, with a market share of 58.8% in July.
