To mark the 75th anniversary of India’s independence, Google has announced special initiatives for its products and services to deliver content and experiences created especially for the occasion throughout the anniversary year.
At the heart of the celebration is a new online collection called “India Ki Udaan”, available on Google Arts & Culture. The collection pays homage to India’s rich cultural history, including iconic moments from the past 75 years.
As part of the national celebrations, Google also announced a partnership with the Ministry of Culture focused on delivering informative online content showcasing the contributions of Indians and the evolution of India since 1947 in support of the government’s year-long “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” Meanwhile, Google’s popular Doodle4Google competition 2022, with the theme “In the next 25 years, my India will…”, is now open to students in grades 1-10.
The new Google Arts & Culture series “India Ki Udaan” is published in English and Hindi. It allows anyone to explore over 120 illustrations and 21 stories created by 10 talented artists and exhibitions from various institutions in India – including the Ministry of Tourism, Museum of Art and Photography, Indian Railway Heritage and Indian Academy of Sciences Dastkari Haat Samiti. This initiative allows one to discover some of the most memorable moments, iconic figures, proudest achievements in science and sport in India’s modern history, and how Indian women continue to inspire the world.
In its 10th year in India, Google Arts & Culture has been working with over 100 partners in India, focusing on Indian handicrafts from every state, showcasing miniature paintings, leading immersive tours of World Heritage Sites and pioneering Indian women’s stories.
The winners of this year’s Doodle4Google will see their work on the Google homepage in India on 14th November and receive a Rs 5 lakh university scholarship, i.e., 2 lakh tech kits, achievement recognition for their schools/nonprofits, Google hardware, and fun Google collectibles. According to the press release, the four group winners and 15 finalists will also receive exciting prizes.
