HDFC Bank Parivartan on Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, for the construction of Bagchi-Parthasarathy Hospital IISc Bengaluru. HDFC Bank Parivartan has committed Rs 107.76 crore for this.
Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru is establishing a multi-speciality, not-for-profit, 832-bed hospital named the Bagchi-Parthasarathy Hospital. Apart from this, the premier institutes are also setting up Postgraduate Medical School within their campus premises.
According to media reports, cardiology, radiology and emergency medicine will be the three wings of the hospital to be supported by the bank. The hospital is expected to be fully functional by the end of 2024. However, the first batch of MD/PhD students will be admitted in 2025.
According to Ashima Bhat, Group Head, ESG & CSR, Business Finance & Strategy, Administration and Infrastructure, HDFC Bank, “The medical school and the new hospital will certainly bolster the healthcare needs of the entire region. It will also provide a new generation of physician-scientists”.
