Amarnath Yatra, partially suspended after a heavy rain event, will resume on Monday, July 11, after a three-day interval. Amarnath yatra will resume from Nunwan Pahalgam side, inform Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board. According to officials, pilgrims waiting at the Baltal base camp to restore Yatra will continue their pilgrimage today.
A cloudburst triggered flash floods near the Amarnath cave shrine three days ago, killing 16 people and leaving at least three dozen missing.
IAF Mi-17 V5 and Cheetal helicopters evacuated another 34 injured pilgrims on Sunday. IAF helicopters also airlifted 20 NDRF personnel and six police dogs to search for missing persons trapped under the plane’s wreckage.
On Sunday, Indian troops installed radar to track survivors left after heavy rains hit the area near the Amarnath shrine on Friday.
“The Xaver 4000 radar is operational and has been operating in Amarnath since noon to search for survivors under the wreckage,” said the Indian Army official. Earlier, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Visited a stronghold in Pahalgam on Sunday and met pilgrims.
“Security personnel and administration carried out an effective rescue operation—our condolences to those who lost their lives. Efforts are being made to restore Yatra and repair the road. Pilgrims should come, and we will provide them with all facilities,” Sinha assured.
The Amarnath Yatra was temporarily suspended on Friday until further notice.
