The Tiger Global-backed startup said that healthcare provider Pristyn Care has acquired physician consultation platform Lybrate to push into primary care and strengthen its delivery services. The Tiger Global-backed startup is being noted on June 7.
The Gurgaon-based unicorn company said in a statement that after the acquisition, the two companies would work towards merging the businesses in the coming days.
Harsimarbir Singh, the co-founder of Pristyn Care, said: “Given the growing demand for online medical services, Lybrate offers primary care services to our patients through online consultation services, a compelling strategic fit.”
Pristyn Care will absorb Lybrate’s 150 employees, the company said. Tiger Global is a co-investor in both startups.
Founded in August 2018 by Dr Singh, Dr Vaibhav Kapoor and Dr Garima Sawhney, Pristyn Care performs advanced secondary care procedures with the help of its more than 800 hospitals and more than 400 in-house super-speciality surgeons.
The startup says its surgeons treat more than 50 diseases using the latest advanced medical technologies such as lasers, laparoscopy, microscopic debridement and Lasik in more than 200 clinics in 42 cities.
It raised $96 million in a Series E round co-led by Sequoia Capital and Tiger Global in December 2021 to enter the unicorn club in India.
Investors in the company also include Winter Capital, Epiq Capital, Hummingbird Ventures and Trifecta Capital.
Lybrate is an online physician consultation platform that helps patients connect with more than 300,000 certified physicians from across the country via chat, video and audio calls on their mobile phones or laptops.
