Delhi Airport has launched a personalised luggage tag that uses radio frequency identification (RFID) technology to provide passengers with real-time information on when their check-in luggage will arrive at the terminal and on the conveyor belt, a statement said.
Delhi Airport is the first airport in India to introduce this facility, led by its operator GMR Group-backed DIAL, it claimed in a statement.
Passengers can buy the sticker at Delhi Airport, scan the QR code on it and register on the website bag.hoi.in, the statement said. “Once the tag is registered, all a passenger has to do is affix the tag or put it in check-in luggage,” it noted.
Passengers will start receiving SMS alerts with luggage details on their registered mobile numbers when their luggage arrives at Delhi Airport, it said. “They will receive a message on their mobile phone that their luggage is ready to be claimed at the designated luggage carousel,” it noted.
The ‘BAGG TRAX’ label will soon be rolled out commercially for flyers at Delhi Airport. As part of a pilot project, the BAGG TRAX label is only used for select frequent flyers in Terminal 3. It noted that once commercially rolled out, passengers will be able to purchase it in the departures area of any terminal at Delhi Airport.
BAGG TRAX helps not only domestic and international arriving passengers but also transit passengers to track their checked-in luggage. Passengers and transit passengers can also follow their checked-in bags, it said.
