Eastern Railway Achieves 100% Electrification Of 2,848 Km of Network

The Eastern Railway has achieved 100% electrification of its 2,848-kilometer network, completing work on the 41 km Hansdiha-Goda section, an official said here on Friday.


Full electrification will help significantly reduce carbon emissions and support Indian Railways in making the country’s rail network carbon neutral by 2030, he said.


Kolkata Regional Railway spokesperson Ekalabya Chakraborty said: “With the successful completion of the inspection of the Hansdiha-Godda section by the CRS (Railway Safety Commissioner), the entire 2,848 km network of the Eastern Railway has been electrified along the route.”


He added that the Hansdiha-Godda section has a track length of 41 km, and the CRS conducted speed trials at 103 km/hr.
