Prime Minister Narendra Modi will speak at a meeting of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state office chiefs on May 20.
Activities at the National Secretary-General’s Meeting in Jaipur on Thursday focused on organisational issues and preparations for state elections to be held this year and next. The event will also discuss preparations for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, according to news agency ANI.
Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh are scheduled to hold elections later this year. Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Telangana, Tripura, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Meghalaya, Mizoram and Nagaland to be held next year vote.
“The meeting will discuss the political situation in the country,” BJP Rajasthan leader Arun Singh told reporters, adding that 136 members, including the secretary of state, finance minister, vice president and state president public officials will attend the meeting.
The prime minister will speak at 10 am, he said. The event comes just days before PM Modi completes his eight-year term on May 26. This also comes just days after the Congress party organised a three-day brainstorming session in Udaipur.
On the first day of the event, BJP national president JP Nadda reportedly heard detailed reports from the states from the party general secretary and was instructed to speed up the party’s plans. Leaders of state organs, party committee secretaries, organisation secretaries and other senior party leaders attended the meeting.
