Hyundai Motor India said on Tuesday it has partnered with Tata Power to set up fast-charging EV infrastructure at selected dealerships in the country. Under the partnership, the company will install 60kW DC charging stations at 34 EV dealerships in 29 cities through Hyundai and Tata Power’s EZ Charge mobile app to meet the needs of a variety of EVs.

“The company is pleased to announce its partnership with Tata Power to promote and strengthen India’s robust EV ecosystem and enhance the overall outlook for sustainable mobility, reaffirming Hyundai’s commitment to economic prosperity, social responsibility and vision to integrate community health,” Unsoo Kim, MD and CEO, Hyundai Motor India Ltd said in a statement.

He added that this strategic partnership is critical to accelerating customer adoption of EVs to achieve the national goal of carbon neutrality. “This partnership will strengthen the country’s electrical mobility mission by providing an end-to-end EV charging infrastructure in the company’s dealerships, including providing home charging, installation and commissioning for HMIL EV customers, increasing customer convenience and accessibility,” Kim said.

Hyundai EV owners will receive special tariffs and end-to-end home charging solutions from supply to installation as part of the partnership. The automaker sells Kona Electric in the country. It plans to launch IONIQ 5 during this year’s festival. The company has committed Rs 4,000 crore to expand its battery electric vehicle (BEV) lineup in the country to six models by 2028.

He added that the company’s expertise in EV charging, combined with comprehensive charging solutions and Hyundai’s nationwide ownership, will help develop sustainable mobility infrastructure and accelerate EV adoption. Hyundai will provide the space and necessary administrative approvals through its dealers, while Tata Power will operate and maintain the charging stations.
