Tech giant Apple has started producing the iPhone 13 in India, reinforcing India’s vision of becoming a manufacturing powerhouse. The flagship is being produced at a factory near Chennai at Apple’s contract manufacturing partner Foxconn, the sources said.
In a statement, Apple said: “We are excited to begin production of the iPhone 13, which features a beautiful design, an advanced camera system for taking stunning photos and videos, and the A15 Bionic chip in India for our local customer’s Unbelievable performance on offer.”
It is worth mentioning that Apple started manufacturing iPhones in India with the iPhone SE in 2017. It currently produces some of the most advanced iPhones in the country, including the iPhone 11, iPhone 12, and now the iPhone 13. The flagship iPhone 13 features an advanced 5G experience and delivers blazing-fast performance and power efficiency, longer battery life, and a high-durability flat-edge design with the A15 Bionic chip.
The iPhone 13 is available to customers in markets such as India and the US at the same time – a first in the country.
Apple has a long history in India that started more than 20 years ago. Apple launched its online store in September 2020 and will further its commitment to China with the upcoming Apple Store.
