Skill-Lync Builds Electric Vehicle For Students to Gain EV-Production Insights

Engineering education technology startup Skill-Lync has announced that it has built an electric vehicle (EV) that will give students an insight into the future of the automotive industry. The vehicle is built by a team of six in-house experts in collaboration with professionals from the country’s original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).

The company says its goal is to provide students with the expertise to equip them with the practical knowledge to build electric vehicles. The electric car was built in nine months and cost around Rs 5 lakh. The vehicle has a top speed of 45 km/h, a range of 40 km, and can transport up to 5 passengers while accelerating from zero to full speed in less than 6 seconds. The company plans to launch a series of masterclass videos that will visually demonstrate the manufacturing process of electric vehicles.

Surya Narayanan Paneer Selvam, the co-founder of Skill-Lync, said: “The automotive industry is undergoing a major transformation, thanks to sustainability and an increasingly conscious consumer. In addition to a deep understanding of hybrid electric vehicle design and analysis and our courses, we also provide first-hand experience building an electric vehicle from scratch, providing a holistic view of the future of the automotive industry.”

Sarangarajan V Iyengar, another co-founder, said: “Electric vehicles are an important part of the global sustainability journey. There is an urgent need for a team of automotive engineers who can design, develop and test these new-age vehicles based on complex systems. We believe that our EV program, combined with hands-on experience of actually observing how EVs are built, will bridge the skills gap that exists in today’s disruptive automotive engineering.”
