Microsoft announced that it is setting up its fourth data centre in Hyderabad. The company also said that this will be one of the largest data centres in the country and will be operational by the year 2025. Microsoft had signed an agreement with the government of Telangana to set up a data centre with a total investment of Rs 15,000 Crores.

This investment is aligned with Microsoft’s commitment to supporting customers thrive in a cloud and AI-enabled digital economy and will become part of the world’s most extensive cloud infrastructure. This data centre will also add the increasing demand for Microsoft’s cloud services from both private enterprises and the government sector.

It will offer the entire Microsoft portfolio across the cloud, data solutions, artificial intelligence (AI), productivity tools, and customer relationship management (CRM) with advanced data security for enterprises, start-ups, developers, education, and government institutions, the company said in a statement.

“The cloud opportunity in India is at around $10 billion in the next 2-3 years and is increasing by 20 per cent per year. And the impact of the data centres on employment is immense. In India we have about 4.5 lakh Microsoft certified engineers and this centre will also boost job creation,” Anant Maheshwari, President of Microsoft India said.
