South Korea has signed a deal to sell mid-range surface-to-air missiles (M-SAM) to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The M-SAM system is the main element of South Korea’s multi-layered anti-missile programme. The missile is designed to block hostile missiles at an altitude below 40 km.

During the talks, South Korean President Moon Jae-in and the UAE Prime Minister talked about the methods to expand collaboration in infrastructure, ways to tackle climate change and space. Moon, who is in Dubai for a three-day visit, attended a business forum. He said in the forum that South Korea and the UAE will “expand energy cooperation into the hydrogen sector, a core energy resource in the age of carbon neutrality.” He also said if South Korea and UAE jointly support investment and supply chains in the hydrogen sector, the two nations can further grow together very fastly.
