Preparations have begun in Meerut to welcome PM Narendra Modi on January 2, who is coming to lay the foundation stone of a sports university in Salwa village of Sardhana region, officials said. Meerut Divisional Commissioner Surendra Singh chaired a meeting where he discussed the arrangements to be made for the event with the police and district officials.

After laying the foundation stone, some beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM-KISAN) and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) are expected to be congratulated by PM Modi. The Commissioner gave directions about several requirements such as a helipad, parking, alternate traffic arrangements, security cordoning and issuing the passes for the programme.
