Walmart International CEO Judith McKenna has repeated the company’s commitment to export $10 billion worth of products out of India per year by 2027, which will create a network of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) selling to global buyers and help in the Make-in-India initiative. “This will open global opportunities for SMEs to expand the community and accelerate India’s progress as a manufacturing hub that can export to the entire world,” McKenna said.
McKenna leads Walmart’s international operations of 24 markets outside of the US. She praised India’s enterprising ecosystem, especially the digital economy sector. “We have seen India’s enterprising ecosystem revving even after the Covid-19 pandemic, and I hope the world also see what we see in India, that it has extraordinary public commitment to make it a digital economy. We see a nation of entrepreneurs with a spirit that is hard to match and an opportunity to support and build new businesses that can represent India’s potential,” she said in a video conferencing.
