India recorded 17 more cases of the Omicron variant of Covid-19, which included nine patients in Rajasthan and 7 in the Pune district and taking the total cases to 21 in the country. Most of the people who tested positive either recently arrived from African countries or were in contact with such people. With this, four states and the national capital Delhi have reported cases of the omicron variant, increasing rapidly in the world.

India saw a single-day rise of 2,796 deaths, with Bihar and Kerala having a reconciliation act of Covid-19 data, which increased the country’s death toll to 4,73,326, according to the Union health ministry data. India’s total Covid-19 cases also increased to 3,46,33,255. The daily addition in new coronavirus cases has remained below 50,000 for 161 continuous days.

The Health and Family Welfare Minister said that the five persons who arrived from the high-risk countries were asymptomatic and were admitted to the King Institute of Preventive Medicine and Research hospital. As per the information, one person of the five passengers has been tested Covid-19 negative. Tamil Nadu has not detected any cases of the ‘Omicron’ variant and the passengers who tested Covid-19 positive on their arrival from the UK and Singapore were suspected to catch the Delta variant of Covid-19, Tamil Nadu Minister Ma Subramanian said in a statement.
