Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal examined the arrangements made by Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and West Bengal to tackle Cyclone Jawad. In a video conference with State Chief Ministers, he asked about the preparations done by the state governments. Industry organisations like CII, Ficci, Assocham and PHD Chambers also attended.

“He also evaluated the recommendations for relief made by ministries, states, industry bodies and other organisations and acknowledged the efforts made to tackle the cyclone,” the ministry told in a statement.

Goyal asked the banking and insurance companies to be prepared to tackle the effects of the cyclone. He said that we need to have a complete action plan to manage this natural disaster most effectively by combining inputs and suggestions of all stakeholders and that public-private partnership was required for disaster management and to protect the lives of those affected.
