The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has reappointed Shaktikanta Das as Governor of Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for three years. This appointment will be effective from December 10, 2021, or until further orders, whichever is earlier, the ACC told.
Shaktikanta Das, who is the former Secretary of the Department of Revenue and Department of Economic Affairs at the Ministry of Finance, had joined the RBI as 25th Governor on December 12, 2018. Before his current assignment, he performed as a Member of the 15th Finance Commission and the G-20 Sherpa of India. During his 38 years of career, Das has held the necessary positions in finance, taxation, industries, infrastructure, etc. He has also worked as India’s Alternate Governor in the World Bank, Asian Development Bank (ADB), New Development Bank (NDB), and Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).
