3F Oil Palm said it would invest Rs 1,750 crore in oil palm farming in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh under the National Mission on Edible Oils – Oil Palm (NPEO-OP) scheme rolled out by the Government to increase oil palm production in India. With these fresh investments, the company will be expanding its palm oil area under cultivation by about 62,000 hectares in these northeast states for the next five years.
In Arunachal Pradesh, it will increase its cultivated area to 30,000 hectares. In Assam, it will invest Rs 1,000 crore to bring 30,000 hectares of land under cultivation and generate employment for 2,000 people. It will also develop a combined oil palm project involving nursery operations, area extension, crop maintenance, fresh fruit bunches harvesting and collection, oil palm processing and refining, power plant, and ancillary farmer services in Assam. Currently, the firm has oil palm plantations contracts across Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Chhattisgarh, Arunachal Pradesh and Gujarat.
