On Monday, Indian power stocks rose as the central government introduced the Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2022 in the Lok Sabha today amid protests from opposition parties. The S&P BSE Strength Index was up 1.48% at 4765.2 at 12:47 pm.
Major power stocks traded in the green. JSW Energy rose 6.7%, while Siemens Ltd rose more than 4% on the BSE.
Adani Green and ABB India rose nearly 2.4% from their previous BSE close. State-owned National Thermal Power Corp recently reported a 16.9% year-on-year increase in net profit for the quarter ended June 2022, and its shares rose 2.3% to Rs 159.5. Shares in Torrent Power were also up 1.3% from the BSE’s previous close.
However, shares of Tata Power, Adani Power and NHPC fell, down 1%, 0.7% and 0.6%, respectively.
