Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan assured Rajya Sabha that the Modi government would purchase all farm produce at the minimum support price (MSP), emphasising the government’s commitment to fulfilling PM Modi’s guarantee.

Chouhan criticised previous governments for not accepting the M S Swaminathan Commission’s recommendation to offer 50% more than the cost of production, citing records of former Agriculture Ministers.

The minister also assured that since 2019, the Modi government has been calculating MSP with 50% profit over production costs and offering remunerative prices for crops like paddy, wheat, jowar, and soyabean for the past three years.

Chouhan mentioned that the government has intervened in export duties and prices to support farmers when commodity rates fall.
