194K Flights Operated in Six Years Under UDAN Scheme: Jyotiraditya Scindia

On Tuesday, Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia launched two flights from Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, and said that under the UDAN scheme, 1.94 lakh flights had been operated with more than 10 million passengers over the past six years.


He also said that flying activity in Madhya Pradesh has increased by 70% in the past ten months. Newly launched flights include Delhi-Jabalpur-Bhopal-Gwalior (three days a week) and Delhi-Jabalpur-Bilaspur-Bhopal (four days a week).


Madhya Pradesh has seen a 70% increase in flight traffic over the past ten months, Scindia said at an event at Jabalpur’s Dumna Airport. He said that from 554 flights ten months ago, it has now increased to 926. With two new flights starting today, Jabalpur now has 160 flights a week connecting eight cities, compared to 94 flights a week connecting six cities when I was Minister of Civil Aviation.


He said 468 flights took off and landed from Indore, connecting 20 cities, compared with 308 flights to 12 cities nine months ago. Likewise, he said that Bhopal has 200 flights and connections to 12 cities, compared with 94 flights and connections to five cities nine months ago.


Speaking of his ancestral home, Gwalior, Scindia said Gwalior now has 94 flights connecting eight cities, compared with 56 flights connecting four cities nine months ago. “


The new terminal located in Jabalpur has modern facilities such as boarding bridges and a new apron. The length of the runway has been increased from the current 2000 meters to 2800 meters to facilitate the take-off and landing of large aircraft. It will be ready next month, he said.


Earlier in the day, Scindia participated in a virtual national interaction between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the beneficiaries of the central government’s Jabalpur Manas Bhawan.
