India Has Received More Than 190.33 million Doses of Coronavirus Vaccine So Far: Govt

The joint health ministry said that the country’s cumulative COVID-19 vaccine doses exceeded 1.9033 million on Sunday. As of 7 pm. Sunday, more than 1.1 million doses (11,93,312) of the vaccine had been administered. The daily vaccination total is expected to increase as the final report is prepared late at night.


As of 7 pm on Sunday, 20,524 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine had been administered to people aged 18 to 59, bringing the total number of preventive doses for this age group to 10,93,599, according to the Ministry of Health.
Additionally, more than 3.04 billion children aged 12-14 received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. India began vaccinating everyone over the age of 18 with a preventive dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at private vaccination centres on April 10.


All people over the age of 18 who have completed within 9 months of the second dose of the vaccine are eligible for the prophylactic dose. The national vaccination campaign started on January 16 last year with the first phase of vaccinating healthcare workers. Vaccinations for frontline workers began on February 2 last year. The next phase of COVID-19 vaccination started on March 1 last year for people over 60 and those 45 and older with specific comorbidities.


India started vaccinating everyone over the age of 45 on April 1 last year. The government then decided to expand the vaccination programme, allowing everyone over the age of 18 to be vaccinated against the virus from May 1 last year. The next vaccination phase will begin on January 3 for teens aged 15-18.


India started January 10 with preventive doses of the vaccine for healthcare and frontline workers and those aged 60 and above with comorbidities. The country began vaccinating children between the ages of 12 and 14 on March 16. It removed the comorbidity clause, making everyone over the age of 60 eligible for a preventive dose of the Covid vaccine.
