Twitter said that it would increase free data access to social networking sites to help software developers create tools and products to promote safer online conversations. The move is part of Twitter’s effort to decentralise the company and aim to provide users more control over what content they see in their feed, Amir Shevat, head of the product developer, Twitter said.
The effort to improve developer access also came after Twitter, Facebook, and other social media firms are handling global scrutiny over their algorithms in controlling certain content and allowing misinformation or hate speech to spread.
